A great designer

Today I want to talk about a wonderful doll designer who lives in New Zealand.

Jill Maas designs and publishes patterns, her creations are very unique and her amazing sense of humour shows through in every doll. “Slightly Weathered Ladies” is the name Jill uses for her business. Jill uses simple shapes and has an amazing knack of dressing and embellishing her creations in such a way that each has a completely new character. Each doll she designs comes with a tag and a story about the uniqueness of that particular doll. Her old ladies have a habit of being skydivers or playing the drums for heavy metal bands etc etc .

Teaching cloth doll classes all around New Zealand and Australia takes up many of Jill’s weekends, but she seems to manage a very balanced family life along side her love of creating. Lately she has ventured into the world of altered books and journals and free motion machine embroidery.

Jill is a good friend of mine and I have carried her patterns on my websites for years now. I must say she is my most popular designer and I am thrilled to be able to watch her progress over the years.
