I’ve had Acne since I turned 10 years old. I was very young to have skin that will filled with pimples, black heads and all kinds of horrible scars. I went to see many dermatologists, tried all kinds of stuff that was advertised on television. You name it, I tried it. I also went to a beautician, who prescribed different creams and masks, and who performed numerous facials on me. Often my skin was worst after a facial and I would have scars from the removed black heads!
But I’ve found a few solutions that might help your skin to balance itself back to its natural beauty.
First of all, it is important to note that everyone has different types of skin and one solution that works for me might not necessarily work for you. I’ve been to dermatologists who have given me creams and antibiotic cream treatments. These did not work for me. I tried Proactive for over a month, and still there was no change. But I’ve heard of many people who have used Proactive successfully. I’ve tried extremely expensive masks and creams to tighten my pores. I suggest to some people to use these masks or nightly creams every now and then, when they feel that their skin is reacting to something in particular.
The first step you need to do to fix your skin is stop polluting it! Don’t put a lot of make up on. Don’t cover your face with daily creams, make up like blush or foundation. Once you’ve done this, your skin will be able to breathe and expell the unhealthy bacteria that has collected there. Once you’ve stopped blocking your pores, you need a good cleanser. My doctor suggested I use the most simple soap I can find, like hand soap. But I’ve found a better solution: Cetaphil. I swear by Cetaphil and would recommend it to everyone since it is very mild and works for both kids and adults. Wash your face with Cetaphil every morning and every night, unless you experience dryness, then go down to once per day.
The next step is to change your diet. You must stop eating unhealthy foods. Yes, it’s hard to do in today’s world, but it is the most crucial step. Diet and foods you consume greatly influence your skin. This may or may not have been proven by doctors, but I know from experience that as soon as I have some chocolate or maple syrup: boom, pimples arrive. Try to eat mostly fruit in the morning. Eat as much fruit as you want, your body is made to enjoy it and process it properly and your skin will reward you for this change. Also eating green leafy vegetables (preferrably raw) will help your diet too. Drink lots of fresh filtered water. Whenever you’re thirsty, stay away from pop or sugar-filled drinks and stick to water or mild tea. Water will flush out any toxins in your body, stopping them from coming out of your pores.
Optionally, if you are a woman you should consider starting to take the birth control pill. Consult your doctor about this option, since it was my first successful move into great skin. Taking the contraceptive pill does not necessarily mean that you are sexually active, there exist brands made specifically for curing acne. Of course if you can solve your acne in a more natural way, using the above methods then going on the pill will not be necessary. But keep it as a last resort. If you are a man, talk to your doctor to find out about the other drugs that exist to cure acne.
