Jump ahead 50 to 100 years from now and imagine reading the daily newspaper (if that still exists).
Feature: Remember back in the early 2000′s when everyone was using (unnamed) products, drinking bottled water (that had carcinogens) and of all things, they use to spray air fresheners around their house. And they actually wondered why everyone was getting cancer.
Well folks, the word is out about air fresheners and cancer. If you use any type of freshener, scented candles to spruce up the smell of your home, you may want to read this.
Research results on the affects of using air fresheners, scented candles, incense to make your home smell nice could actually be causing cancer, plus raise your risk of several pulmonary diseases. Even more surprising results indicate that being exposed to the chemicals from air fresheners as little as once a week may increase your odds of developming asthma symptoms by a whopping 71%.
There have been numerous research results that indicate the same findings. The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) looked at 14 air fresheners last year. They determined that 12 of those 14 products had varying amounts of phtalates–chemicals that can cause cancer, affect fertility and cause developmental abnormalities in infants.
I used to regularly buy air freshener for my home–usually when it was on sale. The increasing price of these products has really stopped me from purchasing them recently. Now I have a very good reason to not buy these fresheners. I will probably just open a few windows from now on to get a fresher smelling house. Of course–if I open the windows I am letting in pollutants (that probably cause cancer) from outside……………… Maybe we should all live in a bubble.
