Colon cleansing supplements are ways that can help you flush your gastrointestinal tract of its accumulated fecal matter. The built up is triggeredby a standard American diet on fast food, packaged meals, high salt, sugary drinks and empty calories. Your gastrointestinal tract is just not designed to evacuate completely and properly your consumption of these food items on a daily basis. Even health conscious people may find it difficult to stick to their diet due to the non-availability of better choices, since the majority of manufacturers or service providers prefer to cater to those eating a standard diet.
Hence, it is safe to propose an occasional colon cleansing, for all. A lack of fiber can prevent your colon from performing its best. Without the amount of dietary fiber that helps to keep the colon regular, the amount of bowel movements will be seriously curtailed. A warning indication is when you go two to three days without any bowel movements. It clearly points to a build up of fecal matter that must be evacuated.
If you are not prepared to do a colon cleanse yet, there are ways to help you evacuate your bowels:
- Increase Your Water Intake. It is best that you drink plain and filtered water. Juices and tea can also help but plain water is best. Obviously, sugary drinks or caffeinated drinks are best avoided.
- Do A Temporary Fast. Instead of stuffing yourself with more food, skip a meal or two. Since your colon will not have to contend with food to digest, it can instead continue processing the substances currently in your system, properly digest whatever is already in your gastrointestinal tract, and evacuate fecal matter. If you need to, drink some juices.
- Increase Fiber Intake. Eat more fiber dense foods. Increase your consumption of green leafy vegetables, seeds, nuts and fruits.
If the above is still not able to help you, then it is best that you do some colon cleansing. If you intend to use an OTC formulation, choose those that are made up of natural rather than synthetic ingredients. You may also wish to consult a natural health provider. He or she may recommend that you go for a colonic irrigation or hydrotherapy. As always, you should also consider making diet changes, so that your constipation problem does not return.
