It can be extremely frustrating to have a leaky bathroom faucet. You don’t realize how often you wash your hands in the bathroom until the faucet begins to leak. The good news is that home owners can do bathroom faucet repair fairly easily. There is no need to pay expensive labor charges for a plumber. This is a home repair project that you can do by yourself.
For compression bathroom faucets if you find a water leak that is from the faucet handle you will need to make the packing nut tighter. The other option is that you will need to actually replace the packing part of the faucet. This might be in the washer, o-ring or the actual packing to the faucet. Any part that is worn around the compression stem should be replaced. These parts are not very expensive and replacing only takes a few minutes.
Sometimes for a compression bathroom faucet the water leak will be from the actual faucet spout. If this is the case more than likely the washer or corroded valve seat will need to be replaced. You can simply remove the faucet handle and stem to replace the worn part and then lubricate the stem threads with good silicone grease. Re-assemble the faucet and you are done.
For a disc assembly bathroom faucet the culprit to the leak is probably the inlet and outlet seals. You can take the bathroom faucet apart and replace the warn seals. Be certain that when you put the faucet back together that the you have the seals lined up properly with the bottom portion of the cartridge and the holes for the bathroom faucet.
