Bible Quizzes….

Built by Henrik Blunck on Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Bible quizzes may not sound all that interesting to some, but actually you can learn a lot more about the text by “playing” with the material.

It has been proved by many that playing makes it easier for us humans to learn new things. See some interesting facts.

Two people were older than 900 years. Name them.

Most people can remember Methuselah – 969 years old (Genesis 5:27) – but how many remember Adam, who was 930 years old (Genesis 5:5) when he died.

The Ten Commandments

Some can remember Exodus 20 as one of the places where these commandments are listed, but how many can remember Deuteronomy 5?

Wisdom is priceless

One of the best ways to begin your study of the Bible is not necessarily to begin in Genesis, read through Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy etc.

[Some will be mad at my suggesting another way of beginning such a study, but I do so peacefully in the interest of people getting to know the Scriptures more fully. :-) ]

I would actually recommend you took the book of Proverbs. If you are a slow reader you can take one chapter a day for a full month – there are 31 chapters. But otherwise you could at least begin in Proverbs to get a feel for the wisdom of the Scriptures.

How to proceed

Some then recommend to study one-four chapters starting with Genesis. Another version is to take two bookmarks. Begin first in Genesis, and also in Leviticus. Take two chapters using this system:

Gen. 1-2 + Lev. 1-2

Gen. 3-4 + Lev. 3-4

Gen. 5-6 + Lev. 5-6

Gen. 7-8 + Lev. 7-8

Gen. 9-10 + Lev. 9-10

Gen. 11-12 + Lev. 11-12

Notice that Genesis contains 50 chapters, Exodus 40 chapters, Leviticus 27 chapters, Numbers 36 chapters and Deuteronomy 34 chapters.

By the time you have finished Leviticus and Numbers (your second bookmark) you will have reached Exodus 13/14 at your first bookmark. You just continue your second bookmark. When your first bookmark reaches the end of Exodus, a good place to put it would then be in the book of Psalms.

Your second bookmark will now be your first bookmark, and your second bookmark is in the book of Psalms. Psalms contains 150 songs. You might be tempted to take 3 or 4 chapters in that book, but don’t loose courage when you reach Psalms 119. It is a very long – contains 176 verses.

Once you finish, you can always repeat the process. I stick with the Hebrew scriptures. I have been through the christian testament many times when I was previously of the christian faith.

Good luck in searching the scriptures. Feel free to write comments to this article if you encounter problems you want to be helped in understanding. :-)
