1. Acknowledge Your Own Achievements
It is easy to be hard on yourself when you have no belief in yourself. You have plenty of accomplishments that you do not give yourself credit for. Despite your doubts, it is true thateveryone has a fair share of good qualities and fine talents. Write down a list of positive aspects about yourself, your accomplishments and acknowledge them. This helps to shore up your self-image and self-confidence. Remember, you did it before, and you still have the capabilities you had, so you can also do it this time!
2. Affirm The Qualities That You Would Like To Develop
You must be familiar with the principle, “You are what you think you are.” If you think you are happy, you are going to feel happy. Hence, if you think you possess particular talents and qualities, you will have them. This will boost your self-esteem. Although you may feel that you do not have them yet, just believing that you have them can mean that you will get what you wish for.
3. See Yourself As A Picture Of Success
Picturing yourself as someone who is successful and doing well can help build your self esteem. This is much better than going over and over again in your mind on how small and bad you feel. When you feel successful, you also begin to be more aware of opportunities. See yourself as capable, dynamic and directed, and these positive feeling make you more confident. A mental imaginary of success is a highly effective method in generating feelings and actions that will result in positive reinforcement of self worth.
4. Visualise That You Have All That You Ever Wanted And Needed
This exercise requires you to visualise being abundant and prosperous. In the previous exercise you see yourself as have achieved a goal; in this exercise you visualise the rewards that come with that achievement. When you choose now to concentrate on the abundance that your success brings you, you are setting your mind up to receive and attract these rewards to you. Feelings of personal power will increase, helping you to to build self esteem.
5. Believe That You Are In Full Control
The knowledge that you are in control of your situation is a powerful motivator that will build self esteem. This feeling will come after you have gone through the first four exercises. You can reinforce these being-in-charge feelings by using mental imagery to remind yourself that you are in control.
