My dragon naturally speaking speech to text software has just been delivered and I’m really impressed with the results I’m getting so far! And actually to test it out I’m going to speak the document right now using the software. One thing I would like to recommend is that you do the tutorials before you get started so you know the exact commands you need to use. Because this is the first document I’ve written using the software, I’m going to edit this one, but I’ll do another one later so you can see what actually occurs

At first I had a hard time getting used to it because I’m used to thinking ahead when I’m typing. But as I got better with the idea of speaking and thinking at the same time, my speed increased. It’s very helpful if you form thoughts of a full sentence or article in your mind before you start to talk. Then you to speak like you’re telling a story.

I think it’s a little harder because when you’re typing you can kind of think ahead while you’re fingers catch up to you. Even though I can type at hundred words per minute, it looks like my brain does go faster than my fingers. Whereas if you’re talking and it’s typing, you really have to pretend like you’re telling a story in order to make it work right – and you have to know that even though you can’t see the words immediately on the screen, they will be there in just a few seconds.

I’m really having to do a lot of editing right now when I’m finished with my speaking, but I think it’ll get better with time. I’m not going to get frustrated to quickly though, I’m going to work with it for about a week and see if I don’t get a little faster. It’s hard for me to take my eyes off the screen because I keep forgetting to put in the punctuation marks. Every time you want to end a sentence you have to say the word “period.” And then to start a new paragraph, you have to say “new paragraph.”

LOL, I couldn’t speak the above because it kept adding the new paragraph when I said those key words. Once I got the hang of it, it sure saved my fingers! And after rewriting this document just two times, I’m already getting better at it and having to make fewer and fewer edits while using the speech to text software.

I have to say, I’m very excited about this new software. And like I said after a few more documents; I’ll post a full review without editing my work.
