Your domain name is the very first place on your website, where you can place your important keyword. If you have keyword rich domain name then it can help to improve the site’s visibility and rankings on the search engines.

Let us see the important points, which you need to consider while registering the Domain Name.

Find and register “Top Level Domains” (TLDs) only.

1> Most popular TLDs extensions are :- .com .net .edu .org

2> Many country specific domain extensions may be filtered out by regional sensitive indexes.

3> TLDs gets more credibility than biz, .us, or other secondary extensions.

Choose a domain containing your most important keyword.

1> One of the factor major search engines consider while ranking the website is URL, so make your domain keyword rich.

2> Keyword rich domain name improves the keyword density when you include the url on web page’s copy.

3> Using important Keyword in domain name increases more value in your link popularity campaign.

Mention your TOP most keywords first.

Choose the domain in a such way that your most important keywords will come first and then your secondary keywords. Example if your important keyword is “toys” then toys-online.com would be more effective than online-toys.com.

Keep your domains length short and sweet.

I suggest you stick to the 2 / 3 keywords, separated by hyphens.

Use hyphens (-) to separate words.

Because most of the engines, read the hyphen (-) as a space.

Like www.Your-Important-Keyword.com and not www.YourImportantKeyword.com

Register sensible domain name.

If you register domain like “toys-online-children.com” might sound odd whereas “children-toys-online.com” sounds good and looks more sensible.

If require add supporting words in your domain.

One effective idea to find a unique domain name that is available is to include another less important / secondary word to the mix.

Some examples include: online, top, pro, find etc…

Implement these simple steps to gain a head start for your online business.

Do search engines have preferences after the TLDs? I was wondering about the .id domain. Would search engines almost ignore it since mostly individuals would register it?
