Sinus problems? It seems like my sinus’s are acting up every other week. Sometimes they can be pretty bad, causing 4-6 days of congestion, fatigue and headaches. Other times I can get them cleared up in just a few days. I’m not sure if I am doing something different between the short and longer sinus problems.
There are 4 things that you can do to help relieve sinus infections.
4 Recommended Tips for Sinus Infections
Many doctors will not prescribe antibiotics for sinus infections. You must simply let them run their course. Sometimes that ‘course’ can be very trying with long periods of fatique, headaches, pressure and lots of congestion.
I have tried many over the counter medicines that say they are for sinus issues, but I do not see any difference when I take these medications. If I begin to feel really bad, I will just take a Motrin or Tylenol.
Here are 4 things that I have tried during my frequent sinus infections:
1. Drink lots of water, hot tea. This can be annoying during the day since you will also be going to the bathroom a lot.
2. Apply warm compresses to your face several times a day–or just pour some steaming hot water into a bowl and breathe in the steam for about 10-15 minutes. I usually drape a towel around my head to capture the steam.
3. Apply some Vicks Vapo rub under your nose to help clear up some of the congestion. Also, you may want to try the Breathe Right strips for night. They seem to help a little with clearing up the congestion while you try to sleep.
4. Try to get lots of sleep. This is not always possible, I know. If you can’t get more sleep at night, try to grab a few 30 minute naps during the day. Extra sleep really does go a long way to helping your body fight off the infection.
