Clinton Planning to Tax Video Games?

Built by Joe Fave on Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

It looks like Senator Hillary Clinton is gearing up for a war on video games in her bid to become the next President of the US.

Sources on Capital Hill say Senator Clinton has been asking around for volunteers for a new anti-violence in video games initiative. Specifically, Clinton is trolling for someone who feels passionate about extreme violence and gratuitous sex in video games. Clinton’s bright idea is to add a special tax to video games, much like what a lot of states do for adult vice items like cigarettes and alcohol. The profits from the tax would then go to different child advocacy programs. Much like Alcohol taxes go into subsidizing alcohol treatment programs.

Just a word of warning gamers, this isn’t going away. Clinton has her heart set on making violence in video games a key component of her platform. Clinton is making a major try to get into the White House in the next election. She is setting her self up to be a hero of family values. Taxes on video games are going to be discussed and voted on. This may come up sooner rather than later as she may hope to get a bill she authored into law before the election. Might I suggest writing to you senators and informing them how extra taxes would be harmful.
