Cost of Convenience Packaging

Built by Kathryn Martyn Smith on Wednesday, October 26th, 2005

I saw a new display of convenient six bars to the box Odwalla bars, which I like, so I was thinking of getting them. Then I noticed their size, they seemed smaller than what I usually buy. The box contained six 1-ounce bars, so I checked and lo-and-behold the regular bars I get are 2.1 ounce. So I almost paid 66 cents per ounce, and when usually I’m paying closer to 41 cents an ounce. Yikes!

Can you spell, rip-off? There’s nothing stopping you from just grabbing six bars, and you can find them for as little as 88 cents apiece so they are a great value.

No reason to pay more, if you ask me. Watch those seasonal candy bars too. Okay for trick-or-treaters but way too expensive if you are going to gobble them yourself. Better to go into the regular candy aisle and do some comparison shopping.
