There is a connection between Creating Artwork and reducing your stress levels. It may be something as simple as expressing what’s really going on inside you through colors and brush strokes or something abstract and/or spiritual.
I know that journaling sometimes reveals what is really bothering you and that putting it in words takes the power away from it.
Lots of Maybes…
This is what I do know!
The Frustrations of life can feel overpowering if you let them.
For the last twenty years, I have not needed to do any of those things because I found that Art Expression takes the power of everything that is bothering me away. When I’m Drawing, Painting, Carving, Beading, or whatever, that is what I’m doing. I’m not thinking about problems at work or finances, I’m creating something from me!
That’s a very empowering feeling.
I get inspiration from viewing other people’s Art and reading about an Artist that I admire. Not all of the Great Artists are dead. You may be surprised at all the truely talented people who are willing to share their knowledge, I was.
Even a paint by numbers or stenciled wood burning project can lower you stress levels. This may dependent on the individual. Beading relaxes me and sends my buddy through the roof with frustration. That dowes mean he gave up, he started carving and is becoming really good.
Don’t continue with something that is irritating you more, pick something different to work with. There are so many art forms and you pretty much know what your interests are. Everyone has a tendency to try harder at things they’re interested in. Example:
These examples are fairly linear, but I think you get the point.
Personally, I really enjoy painting animals and the challenge of using watercolors to do this. There is just something about the blending of the pastel colors and the flow of the animal I’m painting that relaxes me.
It doesn’t even have to be a real animal. It works the same wheather it’s a Bear or a Dragon.
There are other times when I just to express something in an abstract form just to get it out of my head. That’s something that a camera can’t do! Some I have to rely on my creative ability to make this into something REAL that everybody can see.
