Thank you very much for mentioning the crystalens in your article. I would like to clarify a few things that you said related to cataract sugery and the crystalens. First, during cataract surgery the zonules are left intact, they are not broken. A small circular opening is made in the central region of the anterior capsule and the lens is removed by phacoemulsification. The goal of modern cataract surgery is not to disrupt the zonules. Second, crystalens patients are told not to read for 10-14 days after surgery so that the lens can position properly. After that time they can resume normal reading and midrange demand activitities.
