Although the dirt track racing season can go on for those who live in the warmer climates, in the Northeast the season is over. Many attended the last dirt track races at Challenger Raceway where they gave it their best and decided to call it a year. Jeremy Zufall from Latrobe PA and his dad Jim were two who didn’t give up until the end.
Jeremy came in fourth in the heat races out of about 30 cars. Jeremy’s dad Jim was doing well until another car smashed into him causing his axle to break during the first lap of the heat races. He went back out and tried to get it fixed in time to reenter the race, which he did, but by that time he was so many laps down there was no chance of catching up. He’d had a very good year scoring high in points and is now thinking about next year and leaving last year behind.
Jeremy went back onto the dirt track and in the feature was seeded 12th. He held his own and was moving up when unexpectedly his motor blew up for a second time this year and he was forced out of the race. It wasn’t a very good year for him considering he was used to winning and is a very talented driver. He is looking forward to building a brand new modified and coming out fresh for next year.
