While sitting at your keyboard, you arent
exercising and may even be snacking and piling
on the pounds. There are a lot of weight loss
products that offer fast weight loss results,
however, are these really guaranteed?
In the US, over 50 million people are currently
trying to lose weight. Unfortunately, only 5 per
cent are successful. One thing is certain from
the start. Beware of fraudulent weight loss
claims. and extremely high costs for weight
loss product courses, which may be life long!
Samples of weight loss products NOT on the
market nowadays:
Diet Patch removed since 1990’s by the FDA
since they were proven ineffective.
Magnetic Diet Pills allegedly flush out fat.
Since fat isnt remotely magnetic, this is most
unlikely to work
Guar Gum Thickener that gives feeling of
fullness. However it can also cause internal
blockages! Banned in non prescription diet aids
since the 1990s though still used in small does in
some foods.
Electrical Muscle Stimulators no proven effect.
Not even that wonderful for any form of passive
exercise.
Eyeglasses that Suppress Appetite These were
based on the suggestion that the projected
image on the retina decreases appetite! Not a
proven fact by any means.
Weight Loss Earrings through acupuncture, is
said to suppress appetite. (It’s not said by most
scientists though.)
Ephedra – plant extracts.used in Chinese and
Indian medicines as multiple cure alls. Banned
in dietary supplements by the FDA IN 2004 and
further upheld in 2006 after evidence of adverse
reactions -and even deaths-linked to ephedra
There are also examples of existing weight loss
products:
Diet drinks that are mixed with beverages or
food are offered as meal substitutes. A
downside of this is that once a person stops
taking the drinks, they will almost always regain
the lost weight after a short period of time due
to feeling of emptiness in the stomach.
Chitosan products contains fiber which were
taken from shellfish.Likely side effects include
diarrhea, bloatedness, and gas. This will
only work alongside a low fat diet.
Chromium Supplements supposed to
lower blood sugar, body fat and cholesterol but
have caused causes anemia and even memory loss.
Studies show only minimal or no beneficial effect at all.
Chromium like most metals is NOT good for the
body in large dosages.
Green Tea Extract Products known as strong
anti-oxidants that help lower cholesterol and
triglycerides, and might therefore promote
weight loss, however, the caffeine content in
continual high doses is likely to promote
insomnia and restlessness.
Algae Tablets – A species of blue green algae,
(Spirulina) contains nutrients that have been
recommended as part of a varied diet but are
very expensive. Not a weight loss product by
themselves. Health Canada warned against
other blue green algae tablets which may
actually contain liver toxins.
St. John’s Wort Supplement – Frequent claims
that it will suppress appetite and promote
weight loss and has been used for centuries as
a cure all.As a weight loss aid, it could lead to
gastrointestinal discomfort, tiredness, insomnia,
and even promote allergic reactions.
Glucomannan Products watersoluble fiber
made fron an Asiatic root.Creates a full feeling
and is an effective laxative.Unsuitable for
diabetics. Weight loss will only happen if a
good diet plan is followed.
Even if you plan on using over-the-counter
weight supplements or even participate in a
weight loss program, the likelihood is that you still
have to eat fewer calories than you burn to lose
weight.
So-just eat less, healthily, plan your work so you spend
less hours at your computer, and exercise
regularly!
