It doesn’t take a great deal of talent to write an e-book but the benefits can be enormous in the short and long term. With a few tips below you should not need to delay writing your own any longer. Of course if you aren’t a very accomplished writer you may want to employ someone to do the writing for you or just help out with other material.
The subject of your e-book is quite easy to work out if you have an interest in a specific area, why not write some articles and get the feed back on whether people are willing to pay for this information. Single articles are an easy place to start and they can also be sued to market your book before you have even completed it. The articles can then be distributed to the popular article directories which will provide a good indication how successful the book could be by the number of people that read your work.
Once this is complete you can start writing the content of the e-book and work out how you want it to look. Most books are set out with an introduction, the main topic and then a conclusion but you may want to add a resource section as well which is quite normal these days. To help increase the number of sales it is often worth adding extra material.
Normally authors will write an article and then insert it into their e-book as this gives them an idea of how it will look when it is completed. There is less room for error with e-books and no room for unnecessary information to clutter them so don’t make it longer than about 50 to 60 pages. Because it’s more difficult to read on your computer screen than on the page, ensure that there’s no information that essentially useless to your reader.
Most e-books contain extra or bonus information collected by the author; be on the look-out for this so you can provide some too. Your bonus material could include a small report (just write two or three additional articles), checklists, or add templates. Any extra material you supply will need to be worthwhile on its own and be related to your e-book subject.
