EFT is usually a better alternative, just not a snuggly as my blanky. This morning when I got up I felt stressed from some events that happened yesterday. I couldn’t shake it off no matter how hard I tried to be positive and keep that stiff upper lip. So I did a little EFT.
Now you may be thinking EF What? EFT. That stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. Before you go humming the Twilight Zone theme song and rolling your eyes around looking for little green men in the sky, let me assure you that prior to finding out about this way to relieve the stress of past emotional stress, I did just that. So let me introduce you to EFT in the hope that you begin to investigate its benefits.
So what is this EFT anyway? According to Gary Craig, creator of EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique is a unique form of acupuncture that uses no needles. Instead, you stimulate well-established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. HIs Discovery Statement of EFT says…
“the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”
He also says that because our physical pains and diseases are so obviously connected with our emotions,
“our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases.”
So by tapping on these energy meridians and while recalling the trauma and saying statements to help you release the emotional stress, EFT helps you to get rid of the disruptions in the body’s energy system. Whoa, that’s deep, kinda X-Files. You may or may not accept it, but let me tell you, it works.
This is an approach that has its roots in time-honored Eastern discoveries that have been known for over 5,000 years. I’ve seen EFT work near miracles. Some of the benefits of EFT are:
*Enormous strides in clearing emotional issues. Sometimes in minutes. (That’s what happened this morning)
*The physical symptoms that were tied to the emotional stress start to fade.
*It can be used for just about everything. And that’s what’s so amazing about it. No matter
what the issue, sunburn, bloating, fear, anger or a baby with colic, EFT can be the answer.
*It’s portable. Since you use your fingers and no out of the way or embarrassing parts of your body are touched using this procedure, you can do it anytime, anywhere.
As with anything, EFT has its limitations. Sometimes its effects are mind blowing, and sometimes…nothing. The key is fitting the right wording with the right trauma. Sometimes the services of a skilled EFT professional are needed for that. However I’ve found that the information up on Gary Craig’s site at www.emofree.org gives a good basic understanding and he also has a free downloadable and printable manual.
Now before I send you off to Gary’s site, let me say that this information as well as his, in no way should be construed as medical advice of any kind.
