Griddler logic puzzles (known also as paint-by-numbers, nonograms, and many other names) are fascinating picture puzzles that require addition, subtraction, and logic to create elaborate designs from an empty grid of squares. These puzzles have been popular in Japan since the late 1980s, and have been published by the UK’s Sunday Telegraph for over fourteen years. Now, these addictive puzzles are freely available online at Griddlers.net!

As a logic puzzle, Griddlers are a relatively new puzzle type. According to The Puzzle Museum, this concept of a logic-based grid puzzle using cross-referencing logic was first introduced in 1987. Since their creation, there have been many different grid-type derivatives that include colors, multiple grid puzzles, and three axis of logic (triddlers!).

The Griddlers.net web site is more than a simple compilation of Griddler puzzles. Griddlers.net is a community of Griddler puzzlers who chat, post messages, and compare solution times. Each puzzle solver’s status is tracked, and there are lists showing the top solvers, the top puzzle authors, and the most popular puzzles. The Griddlers.net site also includes a griddler workshop, where you can author your own Griddler puzzle and share it with the world. With over twenty-three thousand Griddlers and sixteen-hundred Triddlers to choose from, there’s a grid puzzle available for any skill level!

The only requirements for enjoying Griddlers.net is a mandatory registration (for tracking and statistical purposes), and a software requirement of Sun Java and JavaScript. There are links on the Griddlers.net home page that provide easy access to all required software.
If you’re still not sure about the free registration, try some of the sample Griddlers on the guest page. The guest page includes a number of different puzzles that range from the simple to the multi-colored and logically complex.
If you’re looking for a departure from the typical Solitare and Minesweeper games, give Griddlers.net a try. You may find that your spare time has disappeared into a world of grids and colors!

I love griddlers.net and gamelo.net !
