Built by Marlene Zubber on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Capodimonte Italian Vases are considered to be a rare, exotic collectible that many individuals seek today. One of the main reasons for the craze when it comes to this type of collectible vase is that each piece was carefully crafted and constructed with figurines that were molded, and enriched with a detail that no other type of vase has displayed to date. All of this was made possible by the individuals who were part of the Capodimonte Porcelain Manufactory. Here, I will detail some of the highlights that are associated with the history of Capodimonte Italian Vases.

In the year of 1743, the ever-popular king Charles and his lovely wife, Queen Maria Amalia resided in the palace of the Capodimonte area. These royal figures developed the “Royal Factory” of the Capodimonte area. When this business was established, the line of Italian art quickly took a change for the better, and developed many advancements that made the designs produced here well sought after.

One of the art forms that were created included Capodimonte Italian Vases. However, while many would believe that these were initially put into production in an effort to sell, they were actually created to appeal to the overall décor of the King’s royal palace, and to appeal to the royalty of the time.

As some of the lower caste individuals of the social system of the time developed an interest in the porcelain collectibles being produced at the castle, the King and his wife approved the company to develop products that would be affordable and attractive for the middle to upper class residents of the area.

This is when the artistic creations really took off. There was more variety, style, and products being offered to the community. Travelers and other individuals who came to the area found this type of art to be quite appealing. Many products were created including tea sets, kitchen sets, and similar items. However, the Capodimonte Italian Vases were the most revered and sought after products.

Individuals who create the Capodimonte Italian Vases were referred to as “Neapolitan Artists”. Due to the fact that these individuals were permitted to express themselves with very little limitations when it came to their designs, the Capodimonte art that was created during this time still remains some of the most delicate, and perfect pieces offered all throughout history. To date, the Capodimonte Italian Vases are still considered to be rare, collectible items that are prized by any individual that owns them.
