Zone diet is not a weight loss diet. However, if used in proper way, it can significantly help you in that purpose. Zone diet is primarily a way of eating to produce best results within the human body. The following explanation will help you understand what exactly is this zone diet, how does it work, and how easy or difficult is it to follow.



What is Zone Diet?

Zone diet is a diet with perfect balance of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in every meal. When I say balance between these components, it means low carbohydrate, high-protein diet and moderate amount of fat. A perfect zone diet is a diet that contains carbohydrate, protein, and fat in the ratio of 40:30:30. This ratio simply means a diet that provides 40% of calories from carbohydrate, 30% from protein and 30% from fat.

How does the Zone Diet Work?

Zone diet does not work on the theory of maintaining calories. The theory of zone diet is indeed to maintain hormones. The term The Zone’ itself is used for proper hormone balance. Let me explain it. Insulin is a hormone that controls the blood sugar levels in the body, and makes and keeps us fat. The zone diet balances this insulin level so that it is neither too high nor too low. This way, the body can burn fat more efficiently and eventually we lose weight.

Following the Zone Diet: Easy or Difficult

Most people try to follow zone diet with the help of zone food blocks.’ The zone food block determines the amount of carbohydrate, protein or fat in various meals and snacks. This is a bit complicated process, as you have to calculate the number of zone food blocks according to your weight. With the help of various Weight Loss Resources, it is no doubt easy to calculate the daily number of blocks you require, but at the same time, to determine what meals and snacks you should take in order to achieve that correct number of zone food blocks is very complicated. Now you are left with two options first, to spend some good money and buy pre-packed zone diet meals and snacks, and second, to follow the steps discussed ahead.

Divide your plate in three equal sized sections.

Fill one of the sections with low fat protein food. However, be careful not to make this section larger or thicker than the palm of your hand.

Use vegetables and fruits to fill the other two sections.
