The paper calendar at home on the fridge is the usual approach. That works and everyone can check it. But what do you do when you’re not home? How do you check your calendar or add to it?

This is when online calendars are great. There are many free options that work really well.

Essential PIM, http://essentialpim.com, will keep track of calendar events, to-do’s, and even has a place for notes. PIM stands for Personal Information Manager.

Google also has a great free online calendar, https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=cl&passive=true&nui=1&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fcalendar%2Frender&followup=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fcalendar%2Frender&ltmpl=suggest.

They provide a demo and a sample on the sign up page. I use this one and think it is very easy. Just give your kids or spouse the log in and you’re all set. They can easily see what is on the schedule for the family.
