Frizzy Hair Fix
It seems like everyone gets frizzier hair as they get older. The hair gets coarser as we age-as it turns gray- at it becomes more out of control and frustrating.
When I was a teenager, I used to wash and condition my hair and simply brush it. It would air-dry and be perfectly smooth, shiny and non-frizzy. Those days are long gone, that’s for sure.
Now, I am faced with a frizzy mess that I must perform surgery on every time I shampoo- just to get it to look half-way decent. God forbid that my flat iron should break or the electricity go out–would definitely be a ponytail hair day.
Here are some great tips (that actually work!!!!) that I have tried to control that frizz
1. Don’t shampoo your hair every day. This really contributes to dryness and frizz. If you are used to shampooing every day (as I was) this may take some getting used to.
2. When you do shampoo – try this out – first get your hair completely wet – then apply some conditioner. Yes, you read that right – apply conditioner before you shampoo. Next shampoo your hair and apply conditioner again. This works wonders for getting extra smooth, non-frizzy hair.
3. When you blow dry your hair, use a nozzle attachment and blow dry from the top down. Do not blow dry the hair from the bottom up — major cause of frizziness.
4. Use a deep conditioner at least once a month. This is a conditioner that you would leave on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing out. Another great way to combat frizz.
5. Apply silicone products to hair before blow drying/flat ironing. Silicone or serum helps to smooth the cuticle so that frizz is minimized.
5. Get frequent haircuts. Keeping all those layers neat and trim can go a long way to preventing frizz in the future.
