Every so often I like to post on fundraisers that I read about. Maybe they will inspire other nonprofits or charities to have their own fundraising event. Here are some successful recent fundraisers.
A First Annual golf tournament fundraiser raised nearly $2,000 for the police and fire departments in the town of Badin, North Carolina. The $50 entry fees for players covered a golf round, a meal with a drink and range balls for warm-ups.
In Sudbury, Massachusetts, community residents raised over $39,000 during their third annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life. It was held at a middle school from 6 pm to 8 am the following morning. Students joined with family and friends from around Sudbury and walked all night long to raise the money for cancer research.
A Rotary Club in Sterling, Illinois has held a summer cookout and fundraiser since the 1960′s. They take orders for a pork chop sandwich lunch that they grill and sell for $6.00. The Rotary members grilled about 1800 pork chop sandwiches and raised close to $4000.00.
The money goes for scholarships, community donations such as park benches, their Literacy is Fun for Everyone program that provides free books for children from birth until kindergarten.
During the Grand Opening of a Chili’s Restaurant in Pocatello, Idaho, one hundred percent of the proceeds of the meals was donated to the Portneuf Medical Center to help children’s services.
Parents in Pine River, Minnesota hold a fundraiser every year around Mother’s day to raise money to fund bus transportation for their Catholic School. The fundraiser is a luncheon with each table being decorated with a different theme. They raise between $5,000 and $7,000 every year.
The Oakland East Bay Symphony in Oakland, California raised more than $200,000 from a fundraising gala. Three hundred supporters enjoyed Wine, food, music and a silent auction at the Claremont Resort & Spa. The money raised went to the Symphony’s Education Programs, which provide instrumental music instruction in some of Oakland’s neediest schools and reaches over 25,000 children a year.
