Fundraising – Target to Award $800,000 in Education Grants

Built by Amy Passmore on Friday, September 1st, 2006

Target Corporation has just started accepting applications for its Target Field Trip Grants Program. Through this new program, Tatget will award more than 800 grants of up to $1,000 to education professionals throughout the United States. Taget is awarding the grants with the purpose of helping teachers enhance student understanding and increase student achievement by bringing learning to life during field trips outside of the classroom.

The Target Field Trip Grants Program applications will be accepted from full-time educators, teachers, principals, paraprofessionals or classified staff. They must be employed by an accredited K through 12 public, private or charter school in the United States that have 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1) tax-exempt status.

Only one submission per applicant will be accepted but a school may submit more than one application. Grant applications are available online at Target.com/teachers starting today, September 1, 2006 through November 1, 2006.

Recipients will be notified in January 2007 and the field trips will take place during the 2007 calendar school year. The criteria for the selection of grant awards includes: the description of the field trip and its objectives, the benefits to students, the tie-in to the school curriculum and number of students who will be benefited, and the proposed use of funds. The funds may be used to cover transportation costs, entry fees, supplies, equipment and resource materials.

If you are an educator, or you know of someone who would be interested in applying for this grant, visit the Target website for information and an online application.
