Just because you’re on a gluten free diet doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy just about anything.

The key to enjoying gluten free foods is to learn how to prepare your food with safe ingredients.

If you’re new to the world of gluten free foods it’s important to understand that you can never use any ingredients that contain wheat, malt, barley or rye. It’s benefical for people with celiac disease to stay clear of oats due to cross contamination.

When I was young I learned that it was important to ask whether ingredients and/or food products were safe before I used or ate them. I teach my chldren the same thing. I’ve found over the years that inquiring about gluten free foods has always been the best policy. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

If you’re informed upfront you can make wiser choices and in some cases, supply your own food if you’re attending a gathering were food containing gluten will be served.

Over the coming weeks and months, I will share with you some of my family’s favourite gluten free foods.
