A year ago, most of us had never heard of a blog. Now everybody has one. Yes, even me. A blog, as we all now know, is sort of an an on-line diary or soap box. Blogs come in all sizes and flavors. there are even Christian blogs. And this year, on October 13, 14, and 15, Biola University hosted a conference of Christian bloggers, called GodBlogCon 2005. Instigated by blogger/lawyer/commentator Hugh Hewitt, organized by Dr. Andrew Jackson (aka SmartChristian), and directed by Dr. John Mark Reynolds, the convention attracted such names as Pastor David Wayne (JollyBlogger), Jan Lyn (theviewfromher), Joe Carter (Evangelical Outpost), LaShawn Barber, Denyse O’Leary, and more. The conference explored the place of Christian blogs in the blogosphere, covering such topics as Blogging for Pastors, Christian Political Blogging, Blogging for College Students, Turning Your Blogging into a Writing Career, The Emerging Church Blogs, Using Your Blog to Make Money Doing What You Love, Blogging Christian Philosophy, Blogging Theology, When Non-Christians Read Your Blog, God and Pop Culture, and many more. Weren’t there? Don’t worry, it’s all on-line. And being bloggers, everybody blogged about GodBlogCon. So, even if you missed it, you will get the flavor of the activities. Blogging has become an important force in news these days. It is becoming an important force in Christian thought and activity in the world today. And keep your calendar open for GodBlogCon 2006! The site is basic but useful, having been constructed in a short time to handle quite a bit of material. You can contact GodBlogCon through the contact page form.
