Hairstyles and Stress

Built by Perriann Rodriguez on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Is your hairstyles causing you stress everyday? Do you dread having to style your hair everyday? Maybe it is time for you to create your own makeover.

I keep hearing in the news about how stress is related to 80% of all illnesses. And it is not the stress that causes the illness, it is how we handle stress.

Whenever my hair doesn’t style right or has a lot of frizz, I am really annoyed. On rainy days, it seems like there is not much I can do to counteract the affects of humidity on my hair.

There are several steps that you can take to get your hairstyle right, so that it is not a source of annoyance in your life. These simple steps will take you on the journey to the perfect hairstyle.

1. Evaluate your hairstyle. Does your current hairstyle really flatter your facial features? Start out by determining your face shape and then look at hairstyles suited for that type of shape.

2. Try on hairstyles, Go for consultations with a new hair stylist. There are several online programs that let you try on various hairstyles on a photo of yourself. You can even experiment with color, cuts and some programs offer makeup and accessories to try. If you think you have found a good haircut, try it on first before you head to the salon. 3. Find a stylist. This can be a difficult step as everyone has different opinions. I know that I have gone to the salon for a haircut with certain stylists that several people have recommended. I didn’t like the end result. But that doesn’t mean that that stylist is no good. It really comes down to communication. If you can explain to your stylist or better yet, show your stylist a photo of the haircut you want, then you might just end up with that cut. Another factor to consider is that you might be asking for a haircut that won’t really work for you. You should always listen when a stylist tells you that a particular style won’t work.

4. Maintenance. Every good hairstyle requires maintenance. Whether it be frequent trims or using special hair products, your hairstyle will need work. Today’s hairstyles are not the carefree ones of 20 years ago. The brush and go styles are pretty much gone.

In short, you can take some stress out of your life by at least having a good hairstyle. I know it is really superficial, but you will always be in a better mood if your hair looks good.
