Half-full or Half-empty?

Built by Henrik Blunck on Friday, January 12th, 2007

You should remember that there is a vital difference between optimists and pessimists. Some people claim their pessimism is “realism”, but that’s only a decoy away from a very important point many are missing.

Optimists See Good Opportunities

Optimists will try and test new things with a keen interest to see things in the most positive of lights. In that way even somewhat unimportant things can take on whole new meaning at a fraction of the cost when negative people are involved.

The difference is clearly seen in the IT-industry.

An optimist will be aware that others are busy, and will accordingly be patient – and also accept that it might take time to implement a certain change.

The pessimist will threaten to draw away his business from you long before you have even given him/her an adequate reply. The pessimist will assume the worst even though any normal individual would see things more lightly.

No Need To Be Naive

Fear not! I’m not saying you shouldn’t stand up for your rights. IF and WHEN a supplier is slow to give an answer or doesn’t fulfill his or her part of an agreement you should draw the line at some point.

However, there is no need to drag out the canon anytime when a simple warning could have solved the problem.

So, let’s all strive to use balance and good optimistic judgment before we react. This could truly make 2007 one of the best years ever. :-)
