Halloween is so fun with kids

I’m a big Halloween fan. It’s just a fun holiday to me. I thought I’d share some fun Halloween ideas.

We had a great time on Saturday. We went to a farm that offers a Fall Festival. We played in hay mazes and corn mazes, we rode the tractor and picked vegetables, petted farm animals and played on the swingset/slide. At the end of the day we were dirty and tired but full of memories.

I love Fall. The weather getting cooler feels so good and there are so holidays back to back. My daughter is young but we are trying to start traditions and family rituals. Plus there are just so many fun things to do.

The slice and bake cookies are so easy to make and kids love to make and then eat cookies. Rake leaves and jump in them. Press leaves and frame them or put them on a poster in your child’s room. Use the leaves to make a wreath. Go to a Farm or pumpkin patch or some kind of Fall Festival. Make a scarecrow with leftover scraps of fabric.

Carve a pumpkin together and then roast the seeds. (To roast the seeds add a little olive oil, spices and bake at 200 for an hour yum). Decorate your house together. A few little pumpkins inside the house feels so festive. Have your child draw pumpkin pictures and use those too. Make ghosts out of tissues or white hankies.

Instead of buying a costume make one together. If you can sew that’s great. If not you can still come up with something great. Pink sweats with a tail and ears pig. White sweats with tail and ears- rabbit. Foil and antennas space man. Bathrobe, curlers, face mask and slippers- sleeping beauty. Hobos and gypsies are easy to do. Sports uniforms and dance recital outfits are great costumes. Harry Potter black cape, glasses and a wand.
