Have You Thought About Bedroom Chandeliers?

Many people are hesitant to put a chandelier in the bedroom. After all, these light fixtures are considered opulent, unconventional, and even too feminine. However, that doesn’t mean that you should rule out bedroom chandeliers. They don’t all have to be towering edifices of crystal and brass. There are plenty of small, attractive chandeliers that can add a nice touch to your bedroom without taking over. Consider installing a dimmer switch, so that you can decide whether to use your chandelier for general lighting, or to provide a cozy or romantic atmosphere. While not right for everyone, bedroom chandeliers can be a great choice.

While chandeliers are more commonly found in the living room or the dining room, there’s no reason you can’t put one in the right bedroom. Ideally, bedrooms with chandeliers should have high ceilings, and be large enough that the chandelier won’t overwhelm them. You’ll also usually want to use a smaller model than you would place in a room used for social activities. Bedrooms have a more intimate atmosphere than those rooms, and an overly showy chandelier might be too much. The right choice, however, can lend an air of elegance to your bedroom, no matter whether you’re male or female.

When you pick out bedroom chandeliers, be sure to take some time to think about your purchase. It’s a good idea to choose one that not only matches your current decorating scheme, but also the general architectural look of your house. That’ll keep you from having to either buy a new chandelier or put up with one that looks out of place whenever you decide to redecorate.

You can choose from new chandeliers, available at most home and garden stores, or go with a more classic look by picking a vintage or antique one. Be sure to buy carefully if you do decide to get an older chandelier, since they can have suffered problems over the years. It’s a good idea to have all electrical parts checked over before you install an older bedroom chandelier.

If you’ve wanted a chandelier in your bedroom, but have been worried about it being too ornate, silly, or some other reason, think again. You can have a chandelier without it looking odd, as long as you choose the right one and place it correctly. Just be sure to shop around, and plan in advance, so you’ll get the perfect effect.
