I would continue to work hard at lowering your sugars. Otherwise your facing kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, amputation, etc...not to mention you will get the cold and flu a lot more in poor health. Instead of your body breaking down the carbs you eat and turning them into energy your body goes into a survival mode and uses all stored energy and fats. This also causes extreme exhaustion. (Note this if for Type I Diabetes, generally. Type II is a different animal, or in my opinion, a different disease.)
