Brass metal wall clocks are notorious when it comes to tarnishing. If it is not properly cared for, it is very likely that over time, it will turn a dark, blackish color. A product that I find to be good for the purpose of protecting my brass clock is “Brasso”. However, there are other products on the market that do well too – like “Twinkle”. These are exceptional when it comes to the overall care and maintenance of your wall clock. It is very important that you do not use the lacquer on the clock.

If you use too much, or apply it too much, it may eventually lead to discoloration that is sure to really disappoint you. The best way to go about applying the oil is to place it on a cloth, and allow the cloth to sit overnight. The next day, you should then buff the wall clock and be done in this aspect of maintenance.

If you find that you are contending with tough stains and marks on your metal wall clock, you may find that by using a little bit of lemon oil combined with rubbing alcohol that you are able to completely eliminate these stains and smudges. Once again, it is absolutely vital that you make certain that you do not overuse the mixture. Overusing can result in, discoloration, and tarnishing.
