How to Golf Las Vegas Style

Built by Dave Pipitone on Friday, May 18th, 2007

Go golfing in Las Vegas! When it comes to golf Las Vegas style, the golf courses offer there much more to the scene than casinos and shows. Las Vegas golf courses offer a wide variety of scenery as well as options for golfers of all abilities, ages, budgets and interests.

For upscale golfers, a Las Vegas golf club resort like Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort provides the unparalleled beauty of South Nevada desert at the foothills of the Spring Mountains. The resort offers three breathtaking championship golf courses, designed by world-acclaimed golf architect Peter Dye. All courses offer golfers a natural serenity to bond with nature during their round of golf.

The Paiute Golf Resort offers “stay and play” packages that allow you to choose the courses to play and book a hotel room on the property so that you can get to your tee time without the rush and anxiety of being late.

The Wolf Course at Paiute Golf Resort is the newest and most-challenging layout. The course howls at 7,604 total yards as the longest course in Nevada. Because of its length and natural desert surroundings, the Wolf offers an amazing golf experience. There is a stunning island green on the fifteenth hole. Think that the course can’t be tamed? Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb officially opened the course in Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf and shot 65 and 64 respectively. When you golf Las vegas style, you can come to the Paiute Golf Resort and take a bite out of the infamous WOLF. There are five sets of tee options that range from 5,130 to 7,604. Take your best bite.

The Sun Mountain Course is a par 72 course that offers several options with three sets of men’s tees and a set of forward tees for seniors and women. The men’s tournament tees weigh in at 7,112 yards with a rating of 73.3 and a slope of 134. Other tees measure 6,631 and 6,074 yards. The forward tees extend 5,465 yards.

If you want a “kinder and gentler” golf experience, play the Snow Mountain course. The course is marked with railroad ties and strategically placed water hazards that accent the lush rye grass fairways that weave through the natural desert terrain. Golf Digest named Snow Mountain as the “Number One Public Access Course in Nevada.”

You can make golf reservations up to two months (60 days) in advance at this Las Vegas golf club. If you have an outing of 13 or more golfers, you can make reservations up to one year in advance. The high season rates through late May for Snow Mountain and Sun Mountain are $169 on weekdays and $189 on Friday-Sunday. For the Wolf Course, rates are $199 during the week and $220 on Friday through Sunday. Summer rates are about 50% of the high season rates. There are lower rates during the April and September aeration periods. Make sure to check with the course to know when those exact dates are.

If you want to putt for dough, after driving for show, don’t spend your entire Las Vegas golf vacation in a casino. Golf Las Vegas style at a Las Vegas golf club like the Paiute Golf Resort.
