The average life expectancy for a women in the US today is 80.97 years. That number is much higher than in past years, but when compared to the life expectancy of other countries, it is relatively low.
Just how do women in other countries manage to live longer?
In short, to live longer, you must adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and proper nutrition.
When you look at the lifestyles and habits iin other countries, you will quickly see that there are differences that maybe we in the United States could learn from.
1. Eat more fish. Fish is high in omega-3 fatty acids and may prevent brain and heart problems in the long run. Countries that have a high consumption of fish generally have a higher life expectancy.
2. Eat more veggies. Vegetables are known for containing many essential vitamins and nutrients, particular anti-oxidants, that are vital for a healthy lifestyle.
3. Get preventative health care. When is the last time that you went for a check up at the doctor? Regular checkups and preventative tests can go a long way to preventing future medical problems down the road.
4. Take a vacation. Take a break. Regular vacations can cut your risk for many illnesses. Contant stress and everyday blahs can shorten your life, literally.
5. Eat tofu. It’s not just for vegetarians anymore. The phytoestrogens in tofu can help protect the heart from cancer.
There are things that you can do to live longer and healthier. If you are stuck in a rut, just try adding a small healthier choice every day—whether it be a short amount of exercise, a healthier food choice–every little bit helps in the long run.
