How to make a party last forever!

The other day I was at my Granddaughters birthday party. It was her 4th birthday and friends and family all showed up to celebrate. As usual my son and daughter-in-law went all out for the kids! But this time the fun was extended long after the party was over and you’ll be surprised at how easily you can do it too.

Emily’s 4th birthday will be a day that may never be forgotten by family and friends that were there to celebrate. Not because of the games, and food, cake, milk and ice cream…

Not because of all the fun the kids had in the pool and the giant inflated water slide. All those things will be forgotten and actually taken for granted. What will be remembered and treasured for years to come is the special way we arranged for all the children to say “Thank You” to their parents for being great Mom’s and Dad’s.

If this sounds a bit confusing stick with me as I explain.

The party was a big hit. All parents work hard to make their children’s parties a memorable event. Food, Games and activities to keep the kids engaged are pretty much standard. And, at the end, a little grab bag with more treats to keep the dentists employed along with some small toy that I’m sure is quickly lost or discarded. That’s the norm.

But here’s the catch thanks to “MAILaCardNow“.

Each child was able to send (by the U.S. Postal Service) a surprise “Thank You Card” to their own parents with a picture of them having fun at the birthday party.

It’s a great idea and here’s how it was done.

1. My son and his wife got a “MAILaCardNow” account set up.

(Actually they got a free trial account to try the service first. I understand a free test account is available to anyone that asks for it.)

2. Then they took a digital picture of each child having fun.

3. Secretly each child was asked if they would like to say Thank You to their Mom and Dad for bringing them to the party. And of course what other message they would like to convey.

(You can imagine some of the things 3, 4, 5 and 6 year olds say!)

4. Fine quality Greeting Cards were selected from the thousands that are available.

5. Each was personalize with its own message, and

6. One inside photo was downloaded to be included inside the card.

After each personalized Greeting Card is created online, the “MAILaCardNow” service takes over. The card is then:

- printed in full color with the image downloaded inside,

- placed in an envelope,

- the envelope is addressed and return addressed using a special font in blue ink so it appears to be hand written,

- a real 1st class postage stamp is placed on the envelope, and

- delivered to a Post Office for postal carrier delivery to the child’s parents or any family member, relative or friend.

I know for a fact that days later the phone rang constantly as parents got their child’s message in the mail. The question was always the same, “How did you do it?” Answer: “MAILaCardNow“.

You just know that Cards like that (costing less than $2.50 all together including postage) will never get thrown away and will more than likely surface years from now when Mom and Dad become Grandma and Grandpa.
