How to Recycle Lace Window Treatments

Built by Daryl Plaza on Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Lace window treatments are one of the most common types of curtains available today. As new trends in interior decorating emerge, chances are that you will want to adjust your home accordingly. This may mean that you end up with quite a few curtains. While you could simply throw away the old lace window treatments, you should consider putting them to some other use. There is no use in wasting a perfectly good set of curtains, or lump of material! Here, I will share some unique ideas for ways to recycle window treatments that are composed of lace.

One of the very first ways that you can recycle lace window treatments is to take the material that you gather from them and create pillows that can be used to accent the interior design of the home, or even a certain room. You may elect to line the bottom, or inside side of the lace with a solid color piece of fabric. This will enhance the overall appearance of the pillows that you create from the old shower curtains. You can then place the pillows on your couch, love seat, recliners, and even on the beds in your home to add a decorative appeal.

The next way that you can recycle lace window treatments is to cut little strips from the lace, and then apply them to the ends of towels, blankets, and similar items. This is a wonderful way to make hand towels, bath towels, blankets, comforters and more new again. If you elect to do this, it is best to have a sewing machine so that the project can be completed quickly, and display a high level of quality. It is important that you ensure that the lace window treatments strips are placed on these items in a secure manner. This way, when you wash and dry the items, the lace will not fall off or fall apart.

The next way that you can recycle lace window treatments is to make a draft stopper for the door in your home. You may elect to make several different draft stoppers at once so that all doors leading to the outside of the home can be properly protected. You will simply start with a solid piece of fabric and then add some basic filler for weight. Once this has been done, you can cut the lace from the old curtains and wrap it around the draft stopper. Once completed, simply slip it in front of the bottom side of the door. < ,p>

There you have it! Several different ways to recycle all of those old lace window treatments!
