The pet choice is important if you are already sensitive to certain allergens. There are pet choices that are more allergy-friendly than others are. Here are some tips for choosing a more allergy-friendly pet.

- Small birds or small dogs carry much less dander than their larger counterparts.

- Short-haired dogs are much more allergy friendly than long-haired dogs.

- Choosing hard flooring over carpeting can make a difference in the amount of allergens in your home. Carpeting traps the allergens, which can keep your allergy symptoms triggered.

- Other furnishings trap allergens, as well. These include drapes, curtains, and upholstery. Choosing plastic, vinyl, or wood blinds is a much better choices for your windows. Leather and wood furniture are a great allergy-friendly choice for furniture.

Pet allergy symptoms can cause you or your family member feel run down. The above ways can help you reduce your symptoms so that everyone including the pet can live in harmony. Staying on top of the situation and the pet dander can make a big difference in the quality of life at home.
