How to Throw a Great Halloween Party

Built by Nathalie Lussier on Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Do you think youre too old to go out trick or treating with your friends to get free candy? Well if you still want to enjoy Halloween you can try to take out some of the kids in your neighborhood for some fun and safe trick or treating. Youll get some free candy and the parents will be delighted to have some free time to boot. But what if you know thats not the Halloween celebration you have in mind?

Here are some top tips to throwing a great Halloween bash!

The first thing you will want to do is to decorate your house. The spookier looking the better, since teenagers love to be scared. You can easily do this by stopping by at your local Dollar shop to find some fake cobwebs, some witches and ghosts to hang in the windows and some cool pumpkin shaped buckets to put treats in. You should also set the mood by turning the lights down to a safe minimum, so that everyone can see where they are going, but its still a bit of a mystery what lies behind the next corner.

You will also need some cool Halloween music, which can also be purchased in a lot of stores around Halloween time. You might get some scary monster screams playing in the background or some howling wind accompanied by the loud boom of thunder. Either way your guests will be spooked and entertained. You can also have fun with your guests and get some Halloween songs karaoke going! Get your friends to sing to the tune of Monster Mash and have a prize for the spookiest songs. If people are too shy to go up and sing, get some teams going Boys versus girls or just random groups. That will turn your night into a memorable one, guaranteed.

Next, get some exciting treats for your guests! It can be fun to come up with interesting Halloween foods and drinks so get creative. You can make an eyeball bucket by taking some fresh grapes and peeling them. Then have your friends blindfolded and have them put their hands into the bucket and tell them about the freshly cut out eyeballs. Then they can take off the blindfold and eat this healthy treat! You might also want to keep with the Halloween theme by getting some unhealthy chocolaty or sweeter treats. If you would rather not buy anything, you can bake some brownies and put gummy worms on the top. You can then decorate the uncut brownies as a cemetery by placing chocolate bars upright to look like tombstones. The worms will be an extra bonus!

Have your friends bring different juices and soft drinks and mix them all together to have an interesting and icky tasting punch. Add some raisins to the mix and tell your guests that there are a couple of dead flies in the punch. But no worries, because the poison wont affect humans, only vampires. If you want to add a little bit of fright to your feast, you can make some oozy green jello ahead of time. Chop it up and make it look like monster guts and serve it up in a large bowl.

Make sure everyone wears a fun halloween costume! If you know people will have a hard time finding one, direct them to this web site to find a quick halloween costume for teens. Remember that you can always make a costume yourself. So get started now and tell your friends to do the same.

If you and your friends cant come up with enough scary stories to tell each other, find some on the internet and print them out. You can find some here. If telling each other spooky stories by the flashlight isnt scary enough Try this game! Everyone sits beside each other and tries to stay quit for as long as possible. This game works best in the dark or semi-dark. I guarantee the first sound will make everyone jump!

Remember to be nice to everyone and make sure that you keep things light and enjoyable for all. Say goodbye to everyone and make sure they all get home safely. Then you can finish the cemetery brownies all by yourself, if there are any left. Happy Halloween everyone!
