Ideas For Sales People To Ponder
There is no business unless a sale is made, so the saying goes. Sales people work hard to clinch a sale. They deal with difficult buyers, compete with competitors, they pound the market like good soldiers and make the soil ready for their business invasion. That’s what sales people do before they get commissions and reward for their hard work.
So, what does it takes to make a sale? Here’s some ideas from Francis J. Kong, entrepreneur and business columnist, his list of don’t do’s and do’s in selling are:
· Don’t drop by the office unannounced, it never works. Front desk receptionists are trained to ask for your business card and tell you to call for an appointment.
· Don’t do idle talks. Time is precious for prospect so don’t talk about the weather, don’t ask about the family, respect her/his time and he or she will respect yours.
· Don’t ask the prospect for their list of vendors, you will appear like fishing for information. If you do, this just shows that you have not done your homework.
· Don’t recite your memorized sales lines. Avoid stupid questions like: ” Do you want to make more money?” or ” Do you want to grow your business?” Because if you’re such a hot shot in this field then you probably would be the one buying, won’t you?
· Do your homework.
· Do present testimonials. Show the people or companies you were able to help in the past.
· Do be real. Be comfortable with your products and services and be knowledgeable about the prospect’s business.
· Read all the books you can on selling and salesmanship.
· Find a sales mentor who is willing to build you up.
