Is it wrong that I bought the new Miley Cyrus Album “Breakout?”

Built by Kristina Christensen on Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Yep, I did it and I like it. I, like thousands of other people, purchased her new album, the first not to share the name of her alter ego Hannah Montana. No, I’m not a teenager. Out of curiousity, I listened to the album online and have to say that I was intrigued. There were enough songs that caught my interest that I went to Wal-Mart on my lunch hour and paid the $13.88 to hear the tracks straight from the disc.

Her single “7 Things” doesn’t really give you a good sampling of what music you will find. Though it is a teen emotion and angst driven record, she also explores lost love, the environment, and independence. My favorite track is “Bottom of the Ocean,” a ballad about losing love and not knowing where it goes. “The Driveway,” “These Four Walls,” “Full Circle,” “Goodbye,” and “Simple Song” come in a close second. It’s not very often that you can say that you like so many tracks on an artist’s album. I give her credit. My god, she’s only 15. Though some will say it is just a product of the Disney machine, Miley actually had a lot of influence over this record both writing and producing most of the songs. If I could say one negative thing, she should have skipped the remake of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

Congratulations Miley. I look forward to the music you will make in the future.
