Good morning again!
Did you get your things all written out yesterday? If so, we’re ready to move on.
Today we’re going to finish creating our spending plan. If your numbers balance, that’s great. If they don’t, here’s what we have to do. . .
Ask yourself the following questions:
1. What can we cut out?
- are you spending money on things that aren’t really bringing you any pleasure? What can you honestly do without, and not have it really hurt?
2. Where can you cut back?
- do you get a Venti coffee every day from Starbucks? Try cutting back one size a month until you get to their “short” size (not on the list but available – just ask for it). Then cut back to every second day, every third day, etc. (you’ll probably lose a chunk of weight while you’re at it!)
- do you eat out often? Can you cut that down and pack a lunch or cook at home?
- do you have lots of magazine subscriptions or do you buy a lot of books? Decide to get them out of the library from now on.
- do you need two cars or can someone take the bus to work/school? Perhaps you could drive each other? It’s kind of a waste having a car sit in a parking lot all day when it might be put to better use. See if you can come up with a solution.
See this as a game – how much money can you really save in your monthly spending habits? See if just cutting out or cutting back can balance your budget.
Have fun with this. The tough stuff is almost over!
