Keeping Your Confidence Up When You’re Not Getting Interviews

Easier said than done, I know. One of the most important things in a job search is perseverance. No matter what, you have to keep going. If you want out of your current jobfor whatever reasonyou have to keep your head up and keep pursing the jobs you desire.

One thing that you can do is to make a schedule of your job search efforts. Instead of trying to tackle everything at once, have a daily schedule of what you plan to get done that day. Stick to it! Don’t put off a task, telling yourself you’ll get to it the next day. You won’t get interviews that way. You have to be strict with yourself. Knowing that you have a plan of attack can make you feel like you are the one controlling the situation and how quickly you find a job. That builds confidence.

You’ve got to have confidence in the documents you’re sending out to potential employers. If you are sending out sub par material, then chances are that job you’ve been wanting just isn’t going to happen.

So figure out how to gain that confidence. Are you going to write your resume and cover letter yourself? Do you need any books and/or software to help you with this? Or do you want to hire professionals to create your very own sales letter? If you make the correct decision at this beginning stage then your job search will go a lot smoother and more quickly.

Now that you’ve got confidence in how you’re presenting yourself on paper, look at other areas. If you call to follow up on a resume you’ve submitted, how do you come across? Self confident? Shaky? Nervous? Think about this: every time that you have contact with a potential employer is an interview of sorts. No, not the formal kind that one usually is referencing but an interview to get to the next level.

Without confidence in yourself, in your resume package, in your ability to find another job and excel in it, your job search is going to be a treacherous event. Make it a fun one. Believe that only good things are to come and no one can stop you from succeeding!
