Kids Play Kitchens, Teaching and cooking for the future

Built by Daryl Plaza on Monday, January 14th, 2008

Kids play kitchens are still one of the most popular types of toys for young children for the growth of their imagination and learning to work well with other children. Although you’d think they only care about computers and video games, “traditional” toys still have their advantages; even if you can use a virtual kids play kitchen in computer simulator games, there’s nothing like actually playing around with a miniature kitchen set that is specifically designed for children – touching and physically interacting with it.

The sooner you can get your kids to play with kids play kitchens, the more comfortable they’ll feel using it when they grow older. Although I wouldn’t recommend leaving an unattended 5 year old playing around with an electric or gas stove, you may let him use the microwave oven to heat a glass of milk or heat up something – always under adult supervision, of course. That’s something the child will grow accustomed to, and won’t bother you later on with simple kitchen tasks.

Hanging around the kitchen, playing or helping their parents is an essential step in child development process. We spend a large part of our time inside the kitchen, either cooking or cleaning up. Letting your children play “make-belief” with their own kids play kitchen appliances and tools is a good way to keep them occupied while you’re cooking, and also get them ready to help you (and them) later in life. Haven’t you ever heard that it’s better to teach someone how to cook than to feed them every single time? For more information on kitchens check out: www.creativekitchenstyle.com
