Loved stuffed pasta shells? Here is a recipe for Mexican-style stuffed shells.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef or turkey
1 jar (12 ounce) Picante sauce
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chiles (drained)
1 cup of shredded Monterey Jack cheese
½ cup water
12 pasta shells cooked, and drained
Directions
Brown the beef or turkey, drain. Combine the picante sauce, water and tomato sauce. Stir one half of the sauce mixture into the beef or turkey. Add in the chiles and one half of the cheese and mix well. Pour one half of the remaining sauce mixture in the bottom of a 8 x 12 or 10 inch round baking dish. Stuff the cooked shells with the meat mixture and arrange in the baking dish. Pour the remaining sauce over the shells. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Top with the remaining cheese and cook for 5 minutes until cheese is melted. Serves six.
