Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela was crowned Miss Universe 2008 in central coastal resort city of Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Mendoza, 22, had been the favorite of pageant watchers and online bookmakers, got the diamond-studded gold crown from predecessor Riyo Mori of Japan after answering a question on who she thought has it easier in life, men or women. “God made us to share and have differences,” replied the beauty from Amazon’s state.
The beauty pageant was marked by the Miss USA contestant Crystle Stewart falling down on stage during the evening gown competition.
