We all celebrate Mother’s Day but does anyone know the origin? For the longest time I thought it was a holiday created by Hallmark cards. That is not correct.
We all celebrate Mother’s Day but does anyone know the origin? For the longest time I thought it was a holiday created by Hallmark cards. That is not correct.
It was started by Anna Jarvis. She was a woman living in West Virginia and started this to honor her mother after her death. She started quite a campaign to promote this a true holiday and celebration of Mothers.
In fact she and her sister spent their entire inheritance on the campaign and died penniless. What a tribute! I can only imagine what kind of wonderful mother they must have had.
