NBA Draft 2006 Was Crazy, Winners and Losers

Wow what an amazing draft. There were 15 TRADES, six of which involved the Portland Trailblazers. Five of the top ten picks were traded. Truly the most exciting draft to watch I can remember. It was unpredictable and suspenseful.

Who were the winners and losers of the draft.

Let me start with the winners Isiah Thomas what were you thinking. Picking Renaldo Balkman at number 20 was a horrible pick. Now this is no disrespect to Renaldo Balkman, but the fact of the matter is he was projected to be a mid 2nd round pick so you if you really like him why not trade down or take him at number 29. You knew know one would take him in the first round so take Marcus Williams at number 20, which would of been considered a steal and take Renaldo Balkman at 29.

I think the winners were Chicago and Portland. Chicago had a great draft, sort of tricking Portland in a trade with Tyrus Thomas and LaMarcus Aldridge. You can say Portland made a lot of unnecessary trades, but at the end of the day the fact remains they got the players they wanted, period.

Chicago acquires the Draft rights to Thabo Sefolosha from Philadelphia for the Draft rights to Rodney Carney, a 2007 second-round pick and cash considerations.

Dallas acquires a future second-round pick from the L.A. Lakers for the Draft rights to J.R. Pinnock.

Denver acquires a future second-round pick from Boston for the Draft rights to Leon Powe.

Houston acquires the Draft rights to Lior Eliyahu from Orlando for cash considerations.

Indiana acquires the Draft rights to James White from Portland for the Draft rights to Alexander Johnson and two future second-round picks.

Indiana makes a qualifying offer to Fred Jones.

L.A. Lakers acquire Maurice Evans from Detroit for the Draft rights to Cheick Samb.

Memphis acquires the Draft rights to Alexander Johnson from Portland (via Indiana) for a future second-round pick.

Milwaukee acquires the Draft rights to Damir Markota from San Antonio for a future second-round pick.

Minnesota acquires the Draft rights to Randy Foye from Portland (via Boston) for the Draft rights to Brandon Roy.

Philadelphia acquires the Draft rights to Bobby Jones from Minnesota for a future second-round pick and cash considerations.

Philadelphia acquires the Draft rights to Edin Bavcic from Toronto for cash considerations.

Phoenix acquires a future first-round pick from Boston for Brian Grant, the Draft rights to Rajon Rondo and cash considerations.
