The free, open-source office suite OpenOffice.org has now been updated to version 2.0. OpenOffice.org includes the usual word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software and more goodies. Version 2.0 also includes a database.
One of OpenOffice.org’s features is that it can read and write the corresponding Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint files — you can even change the default file format for file saves, too.
OpenOffice.org is available for Windows — 98, Me, 2000 and XP — and Mac OS/X, Solaris (Sparc), Solaris (x86) and for Linux. In other words, this is a cross-platform solution for almost any network or business.
Released by the group of the same name, OpenOffice.org can be downloaded for free at http://www.openoffice.org. Read more about OpenOffice.org
