Next comes the day which pays respect to the cows. Known as ‘Mattu Pongal’ here cattle are garlanded with beads, bells and flowers and are worshipped. The concluding day of festivities is known as ‘Kannum Pongal’ and here the women folk of the house get together to bless the household and request for anther prosperous year.
